Lending and Appraisals for Green HomesMonday, November 8th Although green residential building has been steadily improving across the country, the percentage of homes built to green standards is still only a fraction of a percent of existing homes in the United States. One of the greatest challenges to green building is the lack of information and experience in the appraisal and financing sectors. Lenders continue to shy away from Energy Efficient Mortgages and Energy Improvement Mortgages and appraisers continue to struggle with putting a value on green homes. Mr. Porter's presentation will focus on the opportunities for residential realtors, appraisors and lenders to overcome these challenges and tap into the growing green residential market. Mr. Porter is a marketing and finance expert with over 30 years experience in the mortgage and lending industry. He has presented to numerous organizations including the National Home Builders (NAHB), the National Association of Realtors® (NAR), and the Mortgage Bankers Association. Dave brings an entertaining and highly compelling delivery along with his depth of knowledge and experience in the green building arena. Dave will also be providing a two-day educational seminar on this topic November 9 & 10th at the First Citizen's Corporate Headquarter in Raleigh; you can register at www.porterworks.com/node/582.
