Energy Efficiency Services WISE Program Coordinator (part-time) - Clean Energy Solutions, Inc.

The Energy Efficiency Program Coordinator will administer the Chapel Hill and Carrboro WISE programs to maximize effective delivery of services and resources to the residential and small commercial sectors. This position is funded from a U.S Department of Energy (DOE) Grant to the Southeast Energy Efficiency Alliance. The Alliance in turn has selected the Towns of Chapel Hill and Carrboro as subgrantees. The Town of Chapel Hill is also devoting some of its formulaic Energy Efficiency Community Block Grant (EECBG) funds from DOE to support this position. This is a 24 hours per week role with funding guaranteed through June, 2012, managed by a Chapel Hill-based consultant firm, Clean Energy Solutions, Inc (CESI).

Building Performance Technician Assistant - Southern Energy Management - Morrisville

Southern Energy Management, the Southeast's leading provider of sustainable energy solutions, is seeking a project-based, part-time Building Performance Technician Assistant to join our fast-growing Building Performance team. This position will be based out of our Morrisville office with regular local and regional travel required. The Building Performance Technician Assistant supports the day-to-day goals of the company through efficient fulfillment of contracted work via effective team coordination and streamlined communication of actionable information.

The position of Building Performance Technician Assistant is a part-time position assisting Southern Energy Management in the completion of various projects over the coming months. A Building Performance Technician Assistant will be expected to assist and lead in the collection of field data for new and existing housing and will be expected to represent Southern Energy Management in a professional manner at all times. The ideal candidate will be flexible, eager to learn, and willing to do whatever it takes to make each project a success.

This position will involve field work and may require overnight travel. Possessing basic computer skills is a vital part of this position and experience with energy modeling is a definite plus. Organizational skills are a must have. A strong commitment to sustainable energy and dedication to the long-term vision of SEM is a must.

Job Duties:
• Field test existing and new buildings for energy efficiency performance factors including whole house air leakage, duct leakage, and combustion safety
• Inspecting existing and new buildings for compliance with required energy efficient construction details in framing, insulation, air barrier, and HVAC
• Assemble accurate and coherently written reports with photo documentation in a timely manner
• Work closely with builders and subcontractors, providing onsite technical assistance with means and methods for achieving specification and certification standards
• Performing other duties as assigned by team leaders
• Travel as necessary to complete work

Required Skills/Qualifications:
HERS Rater and/or BPI Building Performance Analyst certifications are preferred
Excellent communication skills - both written & verbal
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Strong math and geometry skills
Ability to set-up and execute formulas in Excel, competence with MS Word, and fast and accurate data entry (demonstrate the ability to type >40 words per minute)
Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds for 100 feet unassisted
Ability to work outdoors, in basements, crawl spaces and attics
Valid driver's license and clean driving record
Access to a reliable vehicle with adequate space for the transport of equipment.

This Invitation to submit applications under the Weatherization Assistance Program is issued by the North Carolina Energy Office. The Energy Office will evaluate each Application in order to create a list of approved subcontractors to perform weatherization work for the Weatherization Assistance Program. The Energy Office will provide this list to its 28 sub-grantees. Public, for-profit, and 501(c)(3) not-for-profit entities that are licensed General Contractors in the State of North Carolina and able to provide the building shell weatherization services are eligible to apply.
