What's the difference between Chapter Membership and National Membership?

Individuals are members of Chapters.
Chapter membership allows any individual, regardless of whether or not their employer is a national member, to participate in the Chapter and take advantage of local Chapter benefits. It also allows individuals to get involved in their community and support local green building efforts. Chapter membership entitles you to discounts on Chapter-led workshops and events, but does not entitle members to discounts on USGBC-led classes or publications.

Organizations are members of USGBC National.
USGBC National Membership is for corporations or organizations, and all full-time employees of national member companies may utilize their company's national member benefits and are encouraged to join their local USGBC chapters at a discounted price. Employees of USGBC member companies get discounts on USGBC and LEED® publications and USGBC-led technical review workshops. Visit USGBC National for more information.

Is my company a member of USGBC National?

Check the USGBC National Member Directory. If you don't see your company, contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it or call 1-800-795-1747 to clarify - USGBC National Membership is handled separately from the local chapter membership.

I filled out the Membership form but did not receive a receipt.

You will be able to access and print an invoice after you join by logging on and going to the Membership tab in your Profile.

Why am I receiving membership renewal reminders / requests to join the Chapter?

My Membership is current.
If you believe you are a current Chapter member but have received an email notifying you of a lapsed membership or asking you to join, you may have two different email addresses in our system. Login to update your email address.

My company is already a member.
To clarify, Triangle USGBC offers Chapter Membership rather than Company Membership. USGBC National Membership is for companies, not individuals. Your company could be a Chapter Sponsor, which would entitle them to a certain number of complimentary Chapter memberships. Learn more about Chapter Sponsorship.

Employees of USGBC National Member Companies are entitled to the discounted Full Chapter Member rate. Otherwise, if you would like to join the Chapter as an individual, visit our membership page.

How can I change my subscription settings? I don't want to receive certain types of emails from USGBC NC Triangle Chapter.
