Summary:

Support media outreach and public relations efforts for the chapter

NC Triangle USGBC Mission:

To transform the way buildings and communities are designed, built and utilized, enabling an environmentally and socially responsible, healthy, and prosperous environment for current and future generations in central and eastern North Carolina.

Committee:

Communications Committee

Overall Committee Charge:

Facilitate the communication of Chapter events, announcements etc. via the website, email messages, monthly newsletter and social media sites. This Committee also furthers knowledge of the Chapter in the local community through marketing and PR efforts

Major Tasks / Responsibilities:

·       Identify opportunities to share the chapter's mission and successes with the general public and the media

·       Develop press releases and distribute to local media

·       Work with external chapter marketing firms

Benefits & Intended Outcome:

·       Assist the chapter in communicating its events, successes and mission with the general public

Volunteer Qualifications:

·       Experience with public relations and/or media outreach is preferred, but not required

Expected Investment from Volunteer:

1 year term, 3-5 hours per month, including a monthly committee meeting

Investment from Organization:

Support of communications committee & external public relations firm

Performance Standards & Expectations:

Develop press releases as appropriate
