Green Building public policy research and benchmarking

NC Triangle USGBC Mission:

Advocacy

Overall Committee Charge:

The purpose of this committee is to educate and inform local government and community leaders and to influence them to adopt sustainable design practices in schools, local and state codes, policies/laws.

Major Tasks / Responsibilities:

Benchmark successful public policy to support and encourage the sustainable built environment locally, including policy at the municipal and state level.

Benefits & Intended Outcome:

Assisting our local municipalities and state government in developing and supporting legislation that encourages a more sustainable North Carolina.

Volunteer Qualifications:

Experience with advocacy and/or legislation beneficial, but not required.

Expected Investment from Volunteer:

1 year term, 1-3 hours per week.

Investment from Organization:

Support of advocacy committee and board of directors.

Performance Standards & Expectations:

Develop list or database of successful public policy which the chapter can provide as a resource.
