Green Schools make sense!
Green Schools contribute to higher test scores, better attendance and improved teacher morale. Green Schools result in significant energy savings and energy cost savings that can be applied to other district priorities, as much as $100,000 per year per school.

Given the enormous financial and environmental benefits, green schools seem an obvious choice, but tight budgets, red tape, outdated laws, and up-front costs often prevent their construction. Often at the local level sources for capital funds (used for construction and renovation) are disconnected from operating funds (used for utility bills and maintenance). This disconnect removes the incentive for school officials to approve increased construction costs, even when the increases are minimal and future operating cost savings are substantial
Join us in our efforts as we advance the Green School cause in the North Carolina legislature and provide educational outreach to school officials and community leaders in the Triangle and Eastern North Carolina. Volunteer today to help green school advocates realize our dream of "Green Schools Within A Generation"
