Comparison of Masonry and Other Cladding Materials in Terms of Embodied Energy and CO2 'Costs'

Thursday, January 26th 5:30-7:30 pm Clancy & Theys Office 516 West Cabarrus Street Raleigh, NC 27603 Masonry design and construction is ancient and continues to evolve. It is important that the masonry industry and researchers more effectively measure and present masonry's sustainable building design qualities. Design professionals and owners now require facts upon which to base their material selection decisions. Currently for masonry they can only refer to data that is often out of date, incomparable, or anecdotal. Ideally, the research data would compare masonry to other construction materials, measured in a comparable manner. This would make it possible to understand this traditional construction system in relevant contemporary terms. More than 100 buildings at a state university campus in the Southeastern US are used as case studies regarding how various cladding materials have performed. For more information or to register visit BEC-RT.
