Green Drinks is a social affair hosted by the Triangle USGBC. Come out and enjoy a cold beverage as you network with members of the sustainability community. This month's Green Drinks will be at the General Store at 39 West Street in Pittsboro at 7PM on Monday, August 29. Prior to Green Drinks we will meet at Chatham Community Library for a tour of their award-winning stormwater management and recycling system. The Library is located on the Central Carolina Community College Campus. (address above)
The project uses native landscaping, reuses harvested rainwater, treats wastewater onsite, incorporates day-lighting, and utilizes solar collectors for hot water. The Sustainable Technologies Center also features regional, recycled and low-VOC materials, sustainably harvested wood, and a vegetated roof. The highest level award was bestowed for these green building and water quality protection measures as well as exceptional public outreach efforts.
