Triangle USGBC EP is teaming up with NC State University’s Sustainability Office for a free movie screening / GreenDrinks event, as part of their Empower Movie Series. Join us at the student cinema on NCSU’s campus March 30th, for a screening of the The 11th Hour. The movie will be followed directly with a brief presentation from Working Films, a group linking nonfiction film to cutting edge activism. After the screening and brief presentation, everyone is welcome over to nearby Players Retreat for the Triangle USGBC’s monthly GreenDrinks networking event, with the opportunity for more Q&A/ discussion with the movie presenters.

The 11th Hour is a 2007 documentary film, created, produced and narrated by Leonardo DiCaprio, on the state of the natural environment, with contributions from over 50 politicians, scientists, and environmental activists, including former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev, physicist Stephen Hawking, Nobel Prize winner Wangari Maathai, and journalist Paul Hawken. The film documents the grave problems facing the planet's life systems including global warming, deforestation, mass species extinction, and depletion of the oceans' habitats, while proposing potential solutions to these problems by calling for restorative action by the reshaping and rethinking of global human activity through technology, social responsibility and conservation.

Working Films, headquartered in Wilmington, NC, Working Films leverages the power of storytelling through documentary film to advance struggles for social, economic, and environmental justice, human and civil rights. With offices in the U.S. and London, they offer consultation, strategic planning for alternative distribution, website and social media development, and complete campaign management services to filmmakers to ensure the content of nonfiction media truly meets the intention for change. http://www.workingfilms.org
