The Meat House and the McDonald’s Restaurant in Cary’s Saltbox Village demonstrate how distinct types of “All-American food” establishments are evolving to become more sustainable. Recently built by Hudson with LEED Consultant Skanska USA, this McDonald’s not only looks fast and trendy, it also received a LEED Gold rating earlier this year in the LEED for Retail Pilot Program and includes some of the Triangle's first electric vehicle charging stations. The Meat House features grass-fed beef, and specialties such as the “Carolina Caviar” with black-eyed peas are truly ‘local’ favorites.
