Hillsborough, NC 27278 Green Drinks is a social affair hosted by the Triangle USGBC. Our May Green Drinks event will be supporting alternate transportation and a great local farm – Maple View Farm.  Come out and enjoy a bicycle ride with the Carolina Tarwheels, as you network with members of the sustainable community. You can choose between two guided bike routes, 12 or 34 miles, all experience levels are welcome.  Please arrive at Maple View Farm promptly at 10:30 am with your bicycle and helmet.  A waiver will need to be signed before you are permitted to go on the ride, please print out and bring with you. Following the ride you will be refreshed with some delicious Ice Cream from Maple View Farms, and we will have a discussion on alternative transit within the triangle. Hope to see you there! Monday, May 2nd 6:00 – 8:00 pm Fullsteam Brewery 726 Rigsbee Ave. Durham, NC GreenDrinks is a social affair hosted by the Triangle USGBC and the Emerging Professionals. Come out and enjoy a cold beverage as you network with members of the sustainability community. This month's GreenDrinks will be at Fullsteam Brewery in Durham, and will feature a short educational presentation on green business certification by GreenPlus. Green Plus is a green and sustainable certification and education program that is designed specifically for small and medium sized businesses. It gives employers affordable, practical support in succeeding financially while being good to their environment, employees and community. Green Plus was developed by centers and departments at Duke University and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in conjunction with business and philanthropic leaders over a three-year period. The business plan for the program was designed by the Center for Sustainable Enterprise UNC Chapel Hill’s Kenan-Flagler Business School, and the concept, tools, and program were tested with over 150 businesses from the Midwest and Southeast from 2007 to the present. Fullsteam is a Durham, North Carolina production brewery and tavern that uses seasonal farmed products, heirloom grains and Southern botanicals.

These sessions will ;provide a structured tour of LEED core concepts and provide a forum for exam candidates to ask questions, discuss key topics, engage with critical concepts and credits, and identify gaps in understanding. Rescheduled 11th Hour Movie Screening

Tuesday, April 19th 6:30 – 8:10 pm Campus Cinema NC State University Witherspoon Student Center   2810 Cates Ave.  Raleigh, NC For those of you that came out for the March 30th screening of the documentary, The 11th Hour, we offer our most sincere apologies for the technical snafu that prohibited the showing of the film. We assure you that the kinks have been worked out for this rescheduled event!  Once again it is free, and open to anyone who’d like to attend. There will not be a Green Drinks event or presentation associated with the rescheduled movie screening. Thanks and we hope to see you there! Triangle USGBC EP is teaming up with NC State University’s Sustainability Office for a free movie screening / GreenDrinks event, as part of their Empower Movie Series. Join us at the student cinema on NCSU’s campus for the rescheduled screening of the The 11th Hour on Tuesday, April 19th.    The 11th Hour is a 2007 documentary film, created, produced and narrated by Leonardo DiCaprio, on the state of the natural environment, with contributions from over 50 politicians, scientists, and environmental activists, including former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev, physicist Stephen Hawking, Nobel Prize winner Wangari Maathai, and journalist Paul Hawken. The film documents the grave problems facing the planet's life systems including global warming, deforestation, mass species extinction, and depletion of the oceans' habitats, while proposing potential solutions to these problems by calling for restorative action by the reshaping and rethinking of global human activity through technology, social responsibility and conservation.

11th Hour Movie Screening & March Green Drinks

Wednesday, March 30th 6:30 – 8:30 pm Campus Cinema NC State University Witherspoon Student Center   2810 Cates Ave.  Raleigh, NC Triangle USGBC EP is teaming up with NC State University’s Sustainability Office for a free movie screening / GreenDrinks event, as part of their Empower Movie Series. The movie will be followed directly with a brief presentation from Working Films, a group linking nonfiction film to cutting edge activism. This independent film touches on the importance of recognizing how climate change and environmental disasters lead to overpopulation and lack of resources for civilizations around the world. Climate Refugees was a huge success at the Sundance Film Festival and premiered in the Copenhagen summit.
