Advocacy Committee

   1.Promotes and endorses green initiatives to:

-Chapter Municipalities

-The State of North Carolina

 -K-12 schools

   2. Establishes and maintains partnerships with complimentary organizations including:

-North Carolina State University – Solar Center and College of Design, Energy & Construction Offices

-City of Raleigh – Environmental Council; Town of Cary

-North Carolina AIA – Committee on the Environment

-Wake County Public School System

-Home Builders Association

-State Energy Office

-Wake County Citizens Energy Advisory Commission

Diversity and Outreach Committee

1. To increase the socio-economic and cultural diversity within the NC Triangle Chapter and to integrate the theories and practices of social and economic justice with those of sustainable design.

-Collaborate with relevant social justice and quality of life initiatives and advocates

-Create partnerships with NC Business Opportunity & Workforce Development

-Create community design assistance programs

-Encourage education curriculum that promotes diversity and green workforce training

Education Committee

1. Talk-n-Walks

-Plans and executes opportunities to learn and see green strategies and implementations

Emerging Green Builders

1. EGB provides a platform for collaborative discussion between universities, municipalities, and industry leaders.


2. EGB develops green building leaders within the Triangle's population of students and young professionals by providing opportunities for experience and education.


3. EGB's (monthly/bimonthly) Green Drinks event consistently provides a networking opportunity for sustainability-minded professionals and students.

Executive Committee

1. Manages the administration of the chapter

2. Serves as the main contact with USGBC national for chapter business

3. Responsible for strategic planning and visioning for the chapter

4. Start with committee involvement and work towards involvement on the board of directors

1. Coordinates and participates in four events per year

-Membership Social in December

-Annual Membership Meeting in April

2. Solicitation , welcoming and tracking of new, potential and lapsed members to the Triangle Chapter

-Sending out new member packets; updating membership data from National USGBC

-Encouraging involvement in Triangle Chapter committees
