The North Carolina Triangle Chapter of the U. S. Green Building Council (USGBC) is now accepting nominations for its 2011 Board of Directors. Nominees must be current members of the local chapter in good standing, able to serve on the Board for a two-year term beginning January 1, 2011 and attend a breakfast for potential candidates on either August 24th or 25th. National membership in the USGBC is preferred but not required. National membership can be a deciding factor for eligibility or in determining ties. Nominations will be accepted through Friday, August 20, 2010 at midnight.

Board elections will take place electronically using Votenet and will be announced in early October to the membership; new members are strongly encouraged to attend Board of Director meetings held in October through December as an observer to understand the use of dynamic governance and understand the issues before the Chapter/Board.
Qualifications for Board Nominees
Nominees must be current members of the NC Triangle Chapter in good standing and able to serve on the Board for a two-year term beginning January 1, 2011. The current Board values diversity and commitment to the transformation of the Building Industry, striving to elect a diverse Board of Directors that represents various building industry professions and socioeconomic/cultural sectors.
Nomination Instructions
If you would like to be considered as a candidate for the NC Triangle Chapter of the USGBC’s Board of Directors, please submit the following information before Friday, August 20, 2010 at Midnight:
1) Download and complete a nomination form.
2) Attend a breakfast on either August 24th or 25th at 7:30 AM to meet the existing Board of Directors. Location to be announced after nominations are closed. The Chapter will pay for the cost of the breakfast for all nominees and Board Members in attendance.
Full Election Process Schedule
The USGBC NC Triangle Chapter Board of Directors is comprised of thirteen individuals with both a special interest and expertise in sustainable building strategies. The Chapter Board of Directors will be elected by the Chapter members based on the following schedule:
