The purpose of this committee is to educate, promote, and catalyze residential green building in the Triangle region and the state. We do this by educating the supply and demand side of the building community, facilitating discussion and collaboration among stakeholders to expand the green building market and knowledge base and reducing barriers to green building adoption.

Committee Goals for 2012

The Residential Committee is divided into four functional areas to reach these objectives based on our assessment of greatest needs in the Triangle and state:

1. Education of Programs and Existing Housing Stock Opportunities (EHS)
•  Program primarily targets new construction — certification programs and standards, tools, metrics, EEMs
•  EHS targets retrofit opportunities — retrofit processes, products, tax credits, EEMs

2. Committee Operations
•  Committee administration, liaison to Education and Event Committees and Communications Committee

3. Date and MLS / Appraisal Initiative
•  Standardize green features to ensure accurate data collection
• Educate and address gap in appraisal arena

4. Green Affordable Housing
•  Educate communities across the state in collaboration with the Diversity & Outreach Committee

Meetings

The Residential Committee will meet (on average) once per month.
