Third Annual USGBC Congressional Advocacy Day in Washington DC
On September 28 and 29th, 2010, Douglas Brinkley, FAIA, Dona Stankus, AIA and John Komisin, AIA, and Lane Burt, with USGBC, participated in the Third Annual USGBC Congressional Advocacy Day in Washington DC. They met with Senator Hagan and her Legislative Assistant Perrin Cooke, Kara Weishaar a Legislative Assistant to Senator Burr, Congressman David Price and his Legislative Assistant Kate Roetzer and Congressman Brad Miller's legislative Assistant Brandy Dillingham. While on Capitol Hill, the advocates promoted the support of following four acts:
a. The PACE Assessment Protection Act (H.R. 5766/S. 3642)
b. The Home Star Energy Retrofit Act (H.R. 5019/S. 3434)
c. The Green Credit Enhancement Program Act (H.R. 5989)
d. The Federal Building Personnel Training Act (H.R. 5112/S.3250)
It was noted that the Senate passed the Federal Building Personnel Training Act unanimously and Congressman Miller and Price voted in favor of the Home Star Energy Retrofit Act.
The Chapter encourages the membership to review these bills and to write a letter to your respective Congressman and Senator encouraging them to pass these important acts.
